Kidnappers in the university town of Nsukka in Enugu state seem not in a hurry to dump their filthy lucre despite the efforts of the state Police Command to run them out-of-town. Apparently calling the bluff of law enforcement agents and playing the lords of the town and its environs, the hoodlums have formed an association.

The body known as Association of Kidnappers of Nsukka (AKN) made its debut in the town recently. Checks by Sunday Sun reporter revealed that although it operates in secrecy, the group has started pasting notices on building walls ordering residents to pay huge ransoms or get ready to be attacked.

A resident, Ekene Ugwu, said they pasted one of such notices in the neighbourhood around Ibagwa road and people were panicky. He said that some residents including lawyers in the area have notified the police and taken precautionary security measures. But the Enugu State police command has told residents to go about their daily businesses as the police were handling the situation.

The police spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu told Sunday Sun on phone that the police had picked the telephone numbers dropped by the author of the letters in various homes, for further investigation. Meanwhile, five persons suspected to be the masterminds of kidnappings in Nsukka zone have been arrested. They were identified as Obinna Nnonyelum a.k.a Biggy, Ikechukwu Jude Ezeah alias Alhaji, Jonas Eke, Kelechi Udagha and Ifeanyi Hyginus Ede. The first suspect, Obinna was allleged to have told his police interrogators that he hails from Amawbia in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State and that his first criminal outing was the kidnap of a woman from Obollo Afor

Though he said he could not remember the date of the kidnap, the suspect allegedly told the police that he and those he identified as Sky B who was their driver, Gago, Alhaji and Jonas alias Pajoe, took part in the crime. He said that the N1.5 million paid as ransom was collected at Umuokpu Awka in Anambra state and that he made the phone calls and gave directives until it was collected. Obinna was also said to have confessed that the gang kidnapped Rev. Fr. Chijioke Amoke, a Catholic priest in Nsukka Diocese and a herbalist, Rowland Iyida alias Ojenamuo on November 2, 2011. The herbalist and a police corporal, Sunday Elisha, attached to Ogrute police station, later died while the kidnappers were escaping with their victims. Police sources told Sunday Sun that the suspects would soon be charged to court.

Some moments ago, a false report went viral saying a fully loaded Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus that was conveying passengers across the Third Mainland Bridge had fallen off the bridge into the Lagos Lagoon.

On Twitter, Facebook, Radio Stations, News Websites and other social media platforms, the disturbing news spread like wild-fire, getting many people worried over the safety of the alleged passengers of the bus.

Most media sources based their news on a tweet by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), which confirmed the accident.

The FRSC tweeted this message earlier: “A fully loaded BRT bus fell off the 3rd mainland bridge into the Lagos lagoon, 26-11-12. Rescue work in progress. Motorists be cautious.”

However, coming as a huge relief, the FRSC spokesman, Jonas Agwu has said the tweet about BRT falling off 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos is a “hoax”. The tweet has been deleted from the their Twitter page and replaced with this:

The Lagos State Government has also debunked the story saying it was a rumour. On Traffic FM, the state government’s dedicated traffic radio station, the news was also described as false.

While the news of the accident was still being circulated on Twitter, Jon Gambrell, the AP correspondent in Nigeria visited the scene and tweeted his findings.

It is hoped that the FRSC would give an explanation for the misleading tweet. However, we are glad that no such event happened in Nigeria today. What the media can cause.

While I was growing up, I realized that a lot of people thought that being sexy was separate from being beautiful. They felt a sexy woman couldn’t be the same thing as beautiful. I even heard descriptions such as, you’re beautiful, she’s sexy, she’s ok, she’s just there, etc. Bollocks  I think they are wrong, one woman can be pretty, smart, sexy, sensual and more. Firstly when you say you sought attention from other guys, do you mean just hanging out with them or being friends? Did you actually cheat on him? If yes, then apart from him having someone else, he would also have trust issues as well. And I am sorry to say so but you acted selfish and spoilt but it’s good that you have acknowledged your mistake and taken responsibility for your action. Sometimes, when a man loves you too much and shows how far he’s willing to go to ensure that your relationship works out, you tend to take him for granted. And that is what happened.

When people are in bad relationships, one of the most difficult decisions to make is to let go. A woman has shared her worst nightmare online this week, her implants inserted in her butt flipped inside out- as seen above. Forming a strange disk like shape, the out of place  implants reportedly flipped when her surgeon failed to insert them in her ‘rear pocket’ firmly enough, leaving them free to protrude.

On the mess, BAAPS Member Adrian Richards- a consultant at Aurora Clinics explained:

“It is a complication which is relatively common following buttock implants. It shouldn’t really happen because the pocket should be snug so the implant stays where it is.”

‘This lady’s implant is flat on the bottom and coned on the top, but this one has flipped over.”

Going on to add that it would ‘hurt’, Richards suggests that both implants would need to be removed or closed up to stop them from shifting. Oh my goodness, did she really need to do this?

Gender Selection the High Tech Way

If you’re getting an assist from science to get pregnant in the first place, you may be able to have a hand in which gender you conceive. As promising and exciting as these high-tech boosts may sound, you’ll have to remember that these methods of gender selection are costly, invasive, sometimes controversial, and may require that you meet strict eligibility criteria.

• Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD): This method was developed to help couples who have gone through genetic testing and know they are carriers of serious gender-linked disorders (certain conditions are inherited by boys and not by girls, and vice versa). Used in conjunction with in-vitro fertilization (IVF), doctors extract one cell from the rapidly dividing embryo fertilized in the petri dish and examine it to determine gender. Only embryos of the desired sex will be implanted in the mom’s uterus. While this method is effective, it is also controversial — and most fertility centers and medical organizations discourage it if there is no real medical reason to select gender.
• Sperm sorting: This gender selection technique involves separating girl-producing sperm (X-sperm) from boy-producing sperm (Y-sperm) in the lab and then either inserting sperm of the desired gender into the mom-to-be’s uterus via intrauterine insemination (IUI) or using the chosen sperm to fertilize an egg in vitro.

Gender Selection the Low Tech Way
If you and your partner are conceiving the old-fashioned way (i.e., without a medical professional), there are less-expensive and less-invasive ways to try gender selection. But as you might imagine, these methods are also less effective — and have not been shown to be any more successful than just letting nature take its course. Still, there’s no harm in trying.

• The Shettles Method: The main theory behind this method of gender selection — which boasts a 75 percent success rate (though independent studies haven’t backed up that claim) — is that girl-producing sperm (X-sperm) move slower but are more resilient and live longer than male-producing sperm (Y-sperm), which are faster but have shorter life spans. So if you’re pining for a girl, you should have sex two to four days before you ovulate — that way the X-sperm will be the only sperm alive and waiting around in your fallopian tubes by the time your egg drops in a few days later. If you want a boy, on the other hand, you should have sex as close as possible to ovulation — since the speedy Y-sperm will be more likely to get to the egg first. There are other specifics to follow with the Shettles Method that may make the vaginal tract more inviting for either the X- or Y-sperm (like sexual positions and even whether or not the woman has an orgasm), and if you’re willing to give it a try, it certainly won’t lower your already 50-50 chances of conceiving the gender of your choice!

• The Whelan Method: The Whelan Method of gender selection is pretty much the opposite of the Shettles Method — that’s science for you! It’s based on the idea that biochemical changes in a woman’s body at certain times in her cycle make it more likely that Y-sperm will fertilize an egg, while other times in her cycle, her biochemistry will favor X-sperm. So to conceive a boy, you should have sex four to six days before ovulation. And to conceive a girl, you should have sex either two to three days before ovulation or on the day of ovulation. Critics of this method say that having sex four to six days before ovulation is way too far away from the release of the egg to even get pregnant, since sperm can’t survive that long.
• Gender-selection kits: There are a variety of kits available that are based on altering the conditions around the egg and sperm (by using nutritional supplements and douches) to make the vaginal tract more receptive to either the X- or Y-sperm. Most experts consider the claims of these kits to be suspect.

Gender Selection the No Tech Way
As you would imagine, old wives’ tales abound on how to conceive a boy or girl — a quick search on the Web will show you that! These methods of gender selection are based on some research, but be forewarned that they come with no guarantee. Some theories focus on nutrition. For instance, for a boy some research suggests that you indulge in red meat, potassium, and salty foods. For a girl, be sure your diet includes eggs, yogurt, and — yes — chocolate! Other methods focus on sexual positions. For example, to increase your odds of having a boy, make love standing up or doggy style, and be sure to climax first. And if you want a girl, try the missionary position and let your guy reach orgasm first. Hey, it may sound kooky, but you’ll certainly have fun!

The sex last night was great!” I say to my husband, Leo.

“We didn’t have sex last night!” he exclaims.

“Yes, we did!” I say. “Last night you woke me up at 2 a.m. Remember?”

This debate is familiar. No, I’m not cheating on my husband, nor did I slip him a roofie. He’s the only man I have sex with, but half the time he doesn’t remember it. That’s because Leo suffers from a rare sleep condition called sexsomnia, which causes him to engage in sexual acts in his sleep.Several times a week, since we first started dating two years ago, we’ve been unintentionally supplementing our sex life with strange, nocturnal trysts. In the middle of the night, my normally respectful and mild-mannered husband becomes a wild animal — I often awake to him pawing me and talking dirty in Italian, his native language. While he’s sleeping, we have full-blown intercourse (seamlessly switching positions during the act) and give and receive oral sex, and when we’re finished, Leo simply fades into a peaceful slumber. And the next morning, he has no recollection of our sexual encounter.

I don’t wake him up during the act for fear of startling him, but on the rare occasion he does awaken, he’s mortified. Leo rarely remembers what happens, so I fill him in the next morning.

Sexsomnia was first discovered in the mid-’90s and brought to public attention in 2002 by researchers at Stanford University. It won’t be considered an official sleep disorder until more research is conducted, but that’s only a matter of time, says Mike Mangan, Ph.D., professor of psychology at the University of New Hampshire. “Roughly 3 percent of the population instigates sleep sex, although it’s more common in men,” he says. Men’s symptoms differ slightly from women’s: While women usually moan and talk dirty, men tend to masturbate violently and aggressively initiate sex. According to Mangan, there’s an area of the brain called the subcortical that regulates basic biological impulses such as breathing, eating, aggression, and arousal. Policing these primal instincts is the cortex, the largest part of the brain, responsible for weighing the consequences of your potential actions. While you’re sleeping, the cortex is not operating in the same way as when you’re awake, but your primal impulses continue to fire off. Normally, this activity won’t disturb a sleeping person, but if there are certain factors involved, such as fatigue, alcohol consumption before bed, a sexual dream, or accidentally brushing up against a bed partner, sexsomnia can occur. “We can’t yet pinpoint a reason for why one person has sexsomnia and another doesn’t, but these general factors make an episode more likely,” says Mangan.

Most of the time, I prefer Leo’s sexsomnia to the sex we have when he’s awake, although I wouldn’t tell him that. We can’t re-create that degree of passion on demand, and I don’t want to emasculate my husband by saying he’s better in bed when he’s sleeping. After two years together, our sex life is satisfying, but it’s dwindling in passion and frequency. The lingerie I used to wear has been shoved to the back of my dresser, and Leo’s started leaving the bathroom door ajar when he’s on the toilet. We know each other’s bodies so well by now that we rely on the same, comfortable sexual positions. But when he’s sleeping, the sex is passionate, uninhibited, and primal. As a result, I feel like I’m harboring a fun little secret — like I have two sex lives. (Hmmnn, I like that )

HOWEVER, SEXSOMNIA does have a downside. Leo often wakes me up several times in one night when I’ve already rebuffed his advances, and disruptive sleep — combined with the frustration of being harangued for sex — can be exhausting. And there are other drawbacks: At times, I feel guilty that he gets shortchanged by our sex life — about a year ago, he drew a hot bath, dimmed the lights, then woke me up with a glass of Bordeaux while having a sleepy but coherent conversation with his eyes open. I was disappointed to discover mid-bath that he was actually sleeping. There have been unforgettable nights of sexual experimentation, tender words, and insightful conversations that he’s not actually privy to. And who else would I share those moments with but my husband?

There’s also something unsettling about it. During an episode, Leo morphs into another person with an unfamiliar subset of kinky sexual preferences that differ wildly from what he likes in his waking hours, making me wonder, Does he have a sexually repressed past? Are his true sexual tastes manifesting during sleep? And while I don’t believe that he’d try to hurt me, I can’t say that my guard is completely down as we fall asleep each night — who knows when a sexsomnia episode will occur? ”From what we understand, sleep sex occurs before the muscles are paralyzed by REM,” says Mangan. This may explain why people can move around and have an orgasm — an intense brain explosion of serotonin, oxytocin, vasopressin, and prolactin — during this stage of sleep and not wake up.

One of the biggest roadblocks to treating sexsomnia is that sleep is an elusive field of study for which no one has all the answers, says Mangan. “Since the brain is never fully shut off, it makes sense that people can do complex things in their sleep, especially activities like sex that involve muscle memory,” he says. “There have been cases of people driving, moving heavy objects, or cooking — why should having sex be any stranger?”

Mangan says Leo fits the basic profile of a sexsomniac. And short of sleeping with one eye open, there’s not much I can do. The FDA hasn’t approved treatment, though doctors have had limited success with antianxiety drugs like clonazepam. That’s a step Leo and I don’t feel is necessary to take, unless his condition worsens. Right now, we consider it his quirk, and another layer to our evolving sex life. The way I see it, more sex for a few sleepless nights is a pretty fair trade.

Bearing with a second bout of acute morning sickness — a rare condition known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum — the royal mom-to-be has canceled a planned red carpet appearance at the London premiere of The Hobbit on Wednesday Dec. 12. (na waa o!) mscewww!

Well, unfortunately, most of the Nigerian public did not think it was cute and there were lots of negative and vicious comments to that effect. Personally, I did not think he had to, but the comedian decided to tweet an apology to his fans and the general public for his enthusiastic tweet. See below:

Rapper Wiz Khalifa and sexy wife Amber Rose are certainly one of the proudest soon to be parents I have ever seen. They do not hesitate to show off their baby bump at every chance they get. And it certainly doesn’t help that Amber is sooooooo hot. #Gosh! Hope I look half as hot as she is when it’s my turn.

The 25-year-old rapper is well-known for his smoking habit but is adamant that he will not change his ways when he is a father.

When E! News asked Khalifa if he was planning to stop smoking, he said: ‘I think it’s all about how you’re raised with it.’

He then added: ‘Before there was a much more negative outtake on it. You know, pot and what it can do, and the effects of it.

‘Of course, I’m not going to be smoking right there over the baby, because smoke in general and being high is not good for a kid. None of that. But definitely he’s going to know what it is – and he’ll know the difference between being a child and not being able to use it and being an adult and knowing how to use it.’ (:D Gee wow! *rollseyes*)

Blonde partner Amber Rose concurred: ‘It’s just like alcohol, basically. That’s how I feel about it, you know. When you’re a kid, you know that you’re not supposed to drink alcohol, that it’s for adults and that’s it.’

She added: ‘Our son is just going to know that daddy likes to smoke.’

Khalifa has always been honest about his affinity for weed, in 2010, he told MTV: ‘I thought weed was bad for a minute. When I was younger, I thought it was bad, but I got to a point where it worked for me. It don’t work for everybody else.

‘People gotta stay free, people need jobs, people got parents that probably wouldn’t be with it, so don’t ruin your life trying to be like me. That’s my advice.’

Sexy singer Rihanna spent the days leading up to Christmas in a rented villa in Barbados but surprised fans when she was spotted with Chris Brown at the Staples Centre to watch the LA Lakers and the New York Knicks. Before she left Barbados, there was an incident involving a German Nationale, who trespassed on the property she was staying in.

Rihanna was all dressed up for the occasion, wearing a black midriff-baring outfit, heels, gold choker necklace and red lipstick. She sipped beer from a plastic cup and seemed in good spirits as the pair kept close during the game. They were among a host of famous faces in the crowd, including Snoop Lion and Red Hot Chili Peppers star Anthony Kiedis.

While she didn’t comment on her romantic Christmas on Twitter, she did post was appears to be an old picture of herself wearing Santa hat and fatigues while with friends.

Gunmen attacked a church in northern Nigeria during a midnight mass on Christmas Eve, killing six people including the pastor, before setting the building ablaze, residents and police said Tuesday.

“A group of gunmen came into the village at midnight and went straight to the church,” said Usman Mansir, a resident of Peri village near Potiskum, the economic capital of Yobe state.

“They opened fire on them, killing the pastor and five worshippers. They then set fire to the church,” he added, specifying that a branch of the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) was targeted.

A senior police official in Yobe confirmed the details, but declined to be named. The head of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Yobe, Idi Garba, told AFP that many worshippers at ECWA “are still missing.”

“I have been informed that six bodies have been recovered,” Garba said, adding that some who lived near the church “fled their homes during the attack and it is assumed that they are still hiding in the bush.”

Residents reported that the gunmen also set fire to several of the homes surrounding the church. Yobe police chief Sanusi Rufa’i said “this is a security issue” and refused to comment further.

Boko Haram Islamists have carried out several attacks in Yobe, which borders the state of Maiduguri, where the insurgent group is based. The Islamists are blamed for killing hundreds of people in northern Nigeria since 2009. It was not clear who was behind the latest violence.

While Yobe’s population is overwhelmingly Muslim, the commercial hub of Potiskum has a significant Christian minority. Peri is just two kilometres outside the city.

It could be recalled that yesterday, Dec. 24, in his traditional Christmas message from the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI prayed for “concord in Nigeria, where savage acts of terrorism continue to reap victims, particularly among Christians”.

The house located in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, was gutted by fire on Thursday with extensive damages recorded in the 30-minute incident. The fire, which started at about 4.25 p.m., was traced to electricity power surge, just barely about 20 minutes after Mr. Obasanjo left for his other house located in the Ita-Eko area of the town.

It was gathered that the fire started from Mr. Obasanjo’s private office, a stone throw to his bedroom, before the security in the premises raised alarm, and the state fire service was contacted.

The fire service, in a swift response, raced to the scene with two fire fighting vehicles, to curtail the fire, which would have spread to other apartments.

No life was lost, but some damaged property were seen being moved out by men of the fire service and officers of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

As at the time of this report, Mr. Obasanjo had returned home, apparently to see the extent of the damage. His wife, Bola Obasanjo, was seen outside in company of some grandchildren looking worried. On his part, Mr. Obasanjo, after the fire had been put under control, was seen sitting within the premises receiving telephone calls from sympathizers.

However, one of his sons, identified as Oba Obasanjo, threw caution to the wind, as he seized the Blackberry phone of one of the correspondent and smashed it on the floor for taking photographs.

Symphatisers that thronged the home of the former President include the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye; a factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Dipo Odujinrin; and the state’s Director of State Security Services. Ironically, an hour after the fire incident was brought under control, the officials of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, arrived in two pick-up vans loaded with ladders.

Addressing journalists that were present at the house, the former President in Yoruba language, jokingly used a native adage that the King’s house that burns will only be beautified.

“Go, go and sing to the whole world that ‘the King’s house that is gutted by fire only beautifies the house,” the former president cheerfully said.

He then dismissed the reporters as he continued to jest with members of family and  guests that had rushed there to sympathise with him.

Located along the Ibrahim Babangida Boulevard in Abeokuta, the multi-millionaire villa, made up of about six structures, was completed shortly before Mr. Obasanjo left office in 2007. It was constructed by Messrs Gitto Construzioni Generali Nigeria Limited, an Abuja-based Italian company. It was built atop a hill, some critics said, to give the former president the psychological feeling of being on top of everyone.

Furious Mario Balotelli has called in lawyers to sue his former girlfriend after she accused him of being ‘irresponsible’ and ‘not interested’ in his newborn baby daughter.

The Manchester City ace’s relationship with Raffaella Fico, 24, has become a real life soap opera with the two having furious slanging matches since they split up in the spring following a year-long relationship.

Earlier this month, former underwear model Raffaella gave birth to a baby girl called Pia, who was conceived just before the couple broke up.

Initially, the player had demanded a DNA test to prove he was the father but then backtracked and said he was going to give their romance another try.

But now Balotelli, 22, has lashed out at Raffaella following an interview with Chi magazine earlier this month in which she said: ‘Mario for me is irresponsible. It came to a certain point where he was just not interested in anything, not in me, or our daughter.

‘Up until certain things happened he was supposed to marry me. That was our project, our desire. Then all of a sudden everything collapsed and I don’t know why.’

‘I have asked my lawyer to take the necessary legal action to defend my honour which has been damaged by the declarations of Raffaella Fico to Chi.

‘I caution Raffaella Fico that she will be asked to pay damages for any further irresponsible comments that she makes that harm my reputation and honour.’

Balotelli’s adoptive parents Franco and Silvo also joined in the attack on Raffaella, using an open letter to accuse her of cashing in on her relationship with him.

They wrote: “We believe that our son is not the irresponsible and undignified person that you have described.’ You seem to have had no hesitation of expressing publicly every sentiment you have felt in order to appear on front pages.’

‘You know full well the relationship was over at the beginning of April. Why do you keep saying otherwise? Why did you wait until June before telling Mario you were expecting a baby and even then it was only after telling the press first – was it so that you could secure another front page?’
